How Much Does a Wedding Cost in Kansas? (2026 Data)
Kansas weddings split along I-35 and I-70. The Kansas side of Kansas City has the largest and most expensive venue market, Wichita and Topeka cost noticeably less, and the rest of the state is ranches, barns and small-town halls.
Kansas venues are unusually open about price. Most of the barns around Kansas City, Wichita and Topeka publish a full rate card by day and season. Almost nothing else in Kansas publishes a price: caterers, florists, bakers and DJs mostly quote privately.
Every figure here comes from a price a Kansas vendor published on their own website, with the sample size attached.
The short answer
A Kansas wedding's venue and photographer come to roughly $5,000 at the median published price in each category. Add catering, flowers, the bar and music for 100 guests, which Kansas vendors mostly do not publish, and most Kansas weddings land between $15,000 and $30,000 all in.
What each vendor costs in Kansas
These are published rates taken from Kansas vendor websites. The typical range runs from the median vendor's starting price to the median vendor's top published price; the full range is the lowest and highest price any vendor published.
| Category | Typical published range | Full range | Vendors publishing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Venue | $3,238 to $6,000 | $1,500 to $52,500 | 74 of 245 |
| Photographer | $1,800 to $3,550 | $500 to $15,000 | 38 of 87 |
Venues are well measured, at 74, and nearly half of Kansas photographers publish a price.
Caterers, florists, cakes and DJs did not clear our bar. Only four caterers, three florists and four bakers published a usable price statewide, so we publish no figure for them.

The regional split
Three Kansas metros had at least five venues publishing a price.
| Metro | Median published venue package | Sample |
|---|---|---|
| Kansas City Metro (Kansas) | $4,000 | n=29 |
| Topeka Area | $3,100 | n=11 |
| Wichita Area | $2,800 | n=19 |
The Kansas City side costs most, with polished barn estates in Johnson County and the counties around it. Wichita is the value market, with weekday barn rentals from $3,000 and a winery hall at $2,000.
Photographers follow the same pattern: $2,400 on the Kansas City side (n=16), $1,873 in Wichita and $1,700 in Manhattan.
Our venue guides cover each region: Kansas City (Kansas side), Wichita, Topeka and Lawrence and Manhattan and the Flint Hills.
The venues that publish under $1,500
Our venue table starts at $1,500. Below it are 13 Kansas venues publishing starting prices under $1,500, with a median of $800: small chapels from $475, community halls, studios and short rentals. They suit a small ceremony, but they are a different product from a reception venue, so we count them separately.
The top of the market
The highest Kansas prices are mostly weekends with lodging, or peak-summer Saturdays:
- The Boat House KC near Paola charges $14,999 for a summer Saturday on its lakes, against $4,999 off-season.
- Whiskey Ridge in Tonganoxie and Circle S Ranch near Lawrence each charge $14,000 for a peak weekend with lodging.
- Bourgmont Winery in south Johnson County runs up to $11,500 in peak season.
- The Highlands near Wichita charges $11,500 for a Friday-Saturday rental.
Putting a Kansas budget together
Here is the median published price in the two categories we can measure.
| Line item | Median-price build |
|---|---|
| Venue | $3,238 |
| Photography | $1,800 |
| Subtotal | $5,038 |
Then add catering, flowers, cake, the bar, music, attire, rings, stationery, hair and makeup and gratuities. For 100 guests, catering and the bar alone often cost more than the venue. See our wedding budget breakdown for where the rest goes, and the budget spreadsheet template to work your own numbers.
Where Kansas couples save
Get married in winter. The Foundry in Topeka takes 25% off from January to March, Bourgmont drops from $11,500 to $7,250, and The Highlands near Wichita charges one day's rate for a two-day rental from December to March.
Look at July and August. Several Kansas venues treat high summer as off-season: Cedar Valley Forest charges $7,400 instead of $8,400 on a Saturday, and Chrisman Manor and Circle S discount July and August too.
Book a weekday. Cedar Valley Forest's Monday to Thursday rate is $3,900 all year, and The Barn at Grace Hill near Newton rents weekdays for $3,000.
Bring your own. Chrisman Manor allows outside catering and liquor, and Wyldewood Cellars charges nothing extra for outside food or alcohol.
A note on timing
May, June, September and October are peak season at most Kansas venues, with September and October the most popular. We cover the tradeoffs in the best months to get married in Kansas.
How we built these numbers
We cataloged Kansas wedding vendors across 8 regions, crawled their websites, and used a language model to pull structured pricing out of the text they publish. Every figure comes from a price a vendor put on their own website, and the venue prices quoted in this guide were checked against the venues' sites when it was written. Nothing is estimated from national surveys.
The known bias is worth stating: vendors who publish prices are not a random sample. Publishing correlates with being mid-market and transparent, and the top of any market rarely publishes. Our medians likely sit below the true center of each category. Read them as a well-sourced floor.
Browse the vendors behind these numbers
Every figure on this page comes from vendors in our Kansas directory. You can see them market by market, with the same published pricing:
