How Much Does a Wedding Cost in Indiana? (2026 Data)

·6 min read

Indiana is one of the more affordable places in the Midwest to get married, and its venues are unusually open about price.

The typical Indiana venue is a barn estate that rents the property for a day or a weekend, often with a cottage or cabin included, and lets you pick most of your own vendors. Many publish a full rate card by day and season. That makes Indiana easier to budget than most states, as long as you compare what each price includes.

Every figure here comes from a price an Indiana vendor published on their own website, with the sample size attached.

The short answer

An Indiana wedding assembled from the median published price in each category comes to roughly $12,900 for 100 guests, across venue, catering, photography, florals and a DJ. That is a floor, not a forecast, and two of its lines rest on thin samples (below).

Realistically, most Indiana weddings land between $15,000 and $30,000 all in once bar, cake, attire and rentals are added.

What each vendor costs in Indiana

These are published rates taken from Indiana vendor websites. The typical range runs from the median vendor's starting price to the median vendor's top published price; the full range is the lowest and highest price any vendor published.

Category Typical published range Full range Vendors publishing
Venue $3,500 to $6,500 $1,500 to $30,650 119 of 472
Photographer $2,100 to $3,500 $500 to $15,000 80 of 146
DJ or band $1,275 to $2,017 $370 to $5,000 28 of 80

Venues and photographers are well measured. Venues are the best-sampled category, at 119, and more than half of Indiana's photographers publish a price.

Caterers, florists and cakes did not clear our bar. Only seven caterers, seven florists and five bakers published a usable price statewide. In Indianapolis, five caterers had a median of $30 a guest and five florists a median of $3,000; treat both as rough.

The regional split

Nine Indiana metros had at least five venues publishing a price.

Metro Median published venue package Sample
Lafayette & West Central Indiana $4,750 n=8
Southern Indiana (Louisville area) $4,300 n=7
Northwest Indiana $4,000 n=11
Fort Wayne & Northeast Indiana $3,800 n=9
Evansville & Southwest Indiana $3,750 n=6
Indianapolis Area $3,500 n=41
Kokomo & North Central Indiana $3,500 n=8
Bloomington & South Central Indiana $3,400 n=14
Muncie & East Central Indiana $2,750 n=7

The spread is narrow, about $2,000 from top to bottom, and the high medians mostly reflect what is included. Lafayette's venues usually include a day before for setup and rehearsal, and Southern Indiana's include all-in hall packages.

Indianapolis is not the expensive market you might expect. Its $3,500 median, on the largest sample in the state, covers everything from a $1,500 industrial loft to $12,500 garden estates.

Our venue guides cover each region: Indianapolis, Northwest Indiana, Fort Wayne, South Bend, Bloomington and Brown County, Evansville, Southern Indiana and Lafayette.

Photographers vary more by city than venues do: $2,200 in Indianapolis (n=22), $2,400 in Fort Wayne, $2,250 in Evansville, $2,025 in Northwest Indiana, $3,095 in South Bend and $1,875 in Bloomington.

The venues that publish under $1,500

Our venue table starts at $1,500. Below it are 27 Indiana venues publishing starting prices under $1,500, with a median of $1,000: outdoor elopement packages from $249, park and community halls, banquet rooms, and small weekday or micro-wedding packages at larger venues. They suit a small ceremony, but they are a different product from a reception venue, so we count them separately.

The top of the market

The highest Indiana prices are mostly all-in packages or whole-estate rentals:

  • Meyer's Castle in Dyer charges $28,500 to rent its whole estate for an outdoor Saturday, and its West Ballroom is $12,700, before in-house catering from $109.50 a guest.
  • Willow Acres near Anderson sells a $26,000 package with a full-service planner and a complete bar.
  • The Mill District near Fremont charges $13,999 for a summer weekend with two nights of lodging, a DJ, coordination and decor.
  • Mustard Seed Gardens in Noblesville charges $12,500 on a Saturday.

Putting an Indiana budget together

Here is 100 guests at the median published price in each category.

Line item Median-price build
Venue $3,500
Catering (100 x $30, Indianapolis, n=5) $3,000
Photography $2,100
Florals (Indianapolis, n=5) $3,000
DJ $1,275
Total $12,875

Then add what nobody publishes: bar service, cake, attire, rings, stationery, hair and makeup, rentals and gratuities. Those reliably add 60 to 100 percent. See our wedding budget breakdown for where the rest goes, and the budget spreadsheet template to work your own numbers.

Where Indiana couples save

Count the lodging. Brown County barns like The Barn at Mount Liberty include two cabin nights in a $5,000 to $7,000 weekend, and The Mill District includes lodging for 12.

Get married in winter, or in July. Kaleidoscope near Warsaw drops its Saturday from $7,150 to $4,750 from January to April. In Brown County and at Woolery Mill in Bloomington, July is off-peak too.

Look at a Sunday. The Barn at Mount Liberty's Sunday is $2,500 to $3,500, and Whispering Oaks in Northwest Indiana charges $5,700 against a $7,500 Saturday.

Choose your own vendors. Most Indiana barns have an open vendor policy, and some, like Whispering Oaks, let you supply your own beer and wine.

A note on timing

May to October is Indiana's wedding season, with September and October the most popular and, in Brown County, the most expensive. We cover the tradeoffs in the best months to get married in Indiana.

How we built these numbers

We cataloged Indiana wedding vendors across 11 regions, crawled their websites, and used a language model to pull structured pricing out of the text they publish. Every figure comes from a price a vendor put on their own website, and the venue prices quoted in this guide were checked against the venues' sites when it was written. Nothing is estimated from national surveys.

The known bias is worth stating: vendors who publish prices are not a random sample. Publishing correlates with being mid-market and transparent, and the top of any market rarely publishes. In Indiana that bias is strongest at hotels and country clubs, which quote by proposal. Our medians likely sit below the true center of each category. Read them as a well-sourced floor.

Browse the vendors behind these numbers

Every figure on this page comes from vendors in our Indiana directory. You can see them market by market, with the same published pricing:
