The Best Months to Get Married in Indiana (2026 Seasonal Guide)

·3 min read

Indiana's wedding season runs from May to October, with a humid summer in the middle and a cold, gray winter that the venues discount.

Two things set the Indiana calendar apart. Brown County's fall color makes October the most expensive month in the hills south of Indianapolis. And big event weekends, from the Indianapolis 500 to college football, fill hotels in a way that can matter more than the weather.

The quick answer

September and October are the best months to get married in Indiana. Warm days, cool nights, lower humidity and fall color, peaking in mid-October in the south. They are also the most expensive: The Barn at Mount Liberty charges $7,000 for an October weekend against $5,000 in summer, and Sunflower Hills near Evansville charges most in September and October.

June is the classic alternative, with long evenings before the heat of July.

For value, book winter, or July and August. Indiana venues publish winter discounts openly: Kaleidoscope near Warsaw drops its Saturday from $7,150 to $4,750 from January to April, and Meyer's Castle cuts its ballroom rates by a quarter from November to April. Several Bloomington and Brown County venues also treat July and August as off-peak.

For what those months cost, see how much an Indiana wedding costs.

Season by season

Spring (April and May)

Mild and changeable, with spring storms and the chance of severe weather. Late May is reliable and green. Watch Memorial Day weekend near Indianapolis: the Indianapolis 500 fills hotels across the city. Near Louisville, Kentucky Derby weekend in early May does the same for Southern Indiana.

Summer (June to August)

Warm to hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms. Covered porches, climate-controlled barns and a rain plan matter. July and August are cheaper at some venues, including Woolery Mill in Bloomington and the Brown County barns.

Fall (September to November)

The peak. September is warm and stable, October is the color and the highest prices, and November is cool and cheaper. Check football weekends in college towns: Notre Dame in South Bend, IU in Bloomington and Purdue in West Lafayette all fill hotels on home game weekends.

Winter (December to March)

Cold and often gray, with lake-effect snow in the north near Lake Michigan. Indoor venues are built for it, and this is the cheapest season to book. Some venues close: Dappled Willow, near Indianapolis, does not hold weddings from January to March.
