10 Best Wedding Venues in Salida, Buena Vista and Crested Butte (2026 Guide)
The Upper Arkansas Valley is the most affordable stretch of the Colorado high country, and Crested Butte, over the pass, is one of its prettiest.
Salida and Buena Vista sit under the Collegiate Peaks, about two to two and a half hours from Denver, with rafting, hot springs and a lot of ranch land. Crested Butte is farther and higher, at the end of the road in the Gunnison Valley. Between them the region has river beaches, old ranches, a restored theater, a power plant turned event center and a few genuinely cheap places to get married.
Too few venues here publish a starting price for us to quote a median. The ones that do range from $700 for a Crested Butte pavilion on a weeknight to a $12,000 hotel ballroom fee with a $15,000 food minimum in Buena Vista.
We cataloged 16 wedding venues across Salida, Buena Vista, Poncha Springs and Crested Butte. Below are the 10 we would point a couple to first.

Salida
1. Everett Ranch Weddings
A family ranch with ceremony sites above the Arkansas River and a 3,600-square-foot rustic event barn. The River Overlook package is $2,000 for the ceremony only, $6,000 for ceremony and reception, with the barn, farm tables, a bar and a fire pit. Intimate Sand Park and elopement packages are offered too.
2. Outside Inn Nature Hotel
A modern landscape hotel in a private 35-acre valley about 15 minutes from downtown Salida, with a lodge, a pavilion, an amphitheater, a Scandinavian spa and cabins for about 30 guests. Weddings take the whole site for two nights, about 10 a year, May to October. Pricing on request.
3. Blue Coyote Ranch
A 33-acre property that rents as a whole, sleeping 39 across a lodge and four cabins, with an aspen-log arbor, a tented reception area for 128, a hot tub and off-leash space for dogs. The venue is as-is, so you handle setup and breakdown, hire a licensed bartender and buy wedding insurance. A rehearsal dinner is included in the fee.
4. Salida SteamPlant
A restored power plant on the Arkansas River in downtown Salida with a ballroom, a theater, a plaza and a brick courtyard, and a full kitchen. The ballroom publishes $375 an hour for private events.
5. Hutchinson Ranch
Family-owned since 1867 and described as the oldest family ranch in the Upper Arkansas Valley, with a historic barn between Salida and Poncha Springs, and guest houses. Pricing on request.
6. The River Pavilion at Noah's Ark
A riverside pavilion among cottonwoods run by a rafting outfitter that has been on the Arkansas for more than 40 years, framed by the Collegiate Peaks. Weddings are spring and fall only, because summer belongs to rafting, and you can arrive by raft.
Buena Vista
7. Surf Hotel & Residences
A riverfront hotel with European-inspired design, the Ivy Ballroom, 62 rooms and a saltwater hot pool. In-house catering is required:
- Lower season or day: $4,000 ballroom fee with a $5,000 food and beverage minimum
- Higher season or day: $12,000 with a $15,000 minimum
So a peak-season wedding here starts around $27,000 before tax and service, and an off-peak one around $9,000.
8. Deer Valley Ranch
A dude ranch with hot springs, open since 1954, with a ceremony at the Chalk Cliffs and a reception in Centennial Hall or the historic lodge for up to 125. It is an open venue, so you choose your own vendors, and there is a discount for Monday to Thursday weddings.
9. The Beach
A river venue about six miles south of Buena Vista with a sandy beach on the Arkansas, a lawn and a new indoor-outdoor space with a stone fireplace, plus an on-site restaurant and bar. Pricing on request.
Crested Butte
10. Mountain Wedding Garden
A do-it-yourself garden seating about 200 and a pavilion for up to 125, with tables, 125 chairs and string lights. Weekday garden $800 or pavilion $700, Friday or Sunday $2,000 for both, Saturday $2,500. There is no kitchen or changing room, so you bring the rest. Closed October through May for snow, and the 2027 season is closed for improvements, so this is a 2026 or 2028 option.
For a ceremony only, the Crested Butte Land Trust permits weddings on two conserved sites, an aspen walk under Crested Butte Mountain and Peanut Lake, for up to 100 guests and three hours, with no food, alcohol, amplified sound or tents.
How to shop the Arkansas Valley and Crested Butte
Plan around the river season. Rafting runs the summer here, and some river venues only host weddings in spring and fall. Late May to June is high water; September is quieter, warm and gold.
Use the hot springs and lodging. Deer Valley Ranch, Surf Hotel, Outside Inn and Blue Coyote all put your guests on site. In a region with modest hotel supply, that matters.
Know what "as-is" means. Blue Coyote and the Mountain Wedding Garden leave setup, staffing and rentals to you. The rent is low because the work is yours, so add a coordinator to the budget.
Respect the snow line. Crested Butte venues close for snow from October to late May, and Peanut Lake usually melts out around mid-June. Our venue tour questions cover the general version.
Our venue checklist covers the rest, and what a wedding venue costs explains how venue pricing is structured.
