12 Best Wedding Venues in Durango, Telluride, Ouray and Pagosa Springs (2026 Guide)

·8 min read

Southwest Colorado sells weekends, not wedding days.

Almost every venue below includes lodging or several days of access in its price: three days on a cattle ranch near Durango, two nights in a Pagosa Springs bed and breakfast, glamping tents in an aspen grove. That is the main reason the region's median published starting price is $8,500 (n=10), high for a region without a big resort town at its center. The number buys more than a single evening does elsewhere.

The San Juans are also remote. Durango and Montrose have the region's main airports, Telluride's is small, and the drive from Denver is six hours or more. Most weddings here are destination weddings, and the venues are built for guests who stay.

We cataloged 27 wedding venues across Durango, Telluride, Ouray, Ridgway, Silverton and Pagosa Springs. Below are the 12 we would point a couple to first.

Every venue below is in our Durango wedding venue directory, where you can filter the full list and see published pricing side by side.

Around Durango

1. The Benchmark at Cascade Village

A bright dining room and an open meadow ceremony site at 9,000 feet, about 20 minutes north of Durango. Full-day rentals:

  • Monday to Thursday $4,000
  • Sunday $5,000
  • Friday and Saturday $6,000

Tables, chairs, a prep kitchen and a venue manager are included, and you can bring your own vendors and decor. You must hire the venue's partner day-of coordinator.

2. LePlatt's Pond

A spring-fed lake on a 100-acre working cattle ranch in the Pine River Valley, with a willow arbor, log benches and a 40-by-80-foot draped reception tent with chandeliers, for up to 200. One price, $12,500, for three days of private access, day-of coordination, setup and teardown, separate catering and bar tents, a fire-pit lounge, and two nights in The Loft, which sleeps six, a minute from the ceremony site. Monday to Thursday weddings get 20% off, which brings it to $10,000. Bring your own vendors or use its recommendations.

3. Blue Lake Ranch

A boutique lodge on a private ranch facing the La Plata Mountains, with gardens, meadows, a spring-fed lake and 17 rooms, cabins and casitas. Its packages include dinner and are priced by guest count, which makes it one of the clearest small-wedding offers in Colorado:

  • 2 to 6 guests: from $2,400
  • 7 to 16 guests: from $3,065
  • 17 to 32 guests: from $4,015
  • 33 to 50 guests: from $5,335, with exclusive use of the grounds, planning and an officiant

Prime season adds $200 to $500. For more than 50 guests, the ranch's Ridgewood Event Center holds up to 200 from May to October.

4. The Black Diamond Lodge

A boutique lodge at 8,900 feet with San Juan views, 12 rooms sleeping 42, hot tubs and a sauna.

  • Micro wedding for 42 or fewer: $6,000, any day
  • Weekday wedding, up to 120: $6,000
  • Weekend wedding, 43 to 120: $10,000

All three include 12 hours, 10am to 10pm. The required extras add up: a lodging buyout of two nights (one for a weekday wedding), the in-house bartenders if you serve alcohol, a coordination package from the same partner as The Benchmark, a licensed caterer, $250 event insurance and a $1,800 lodging cleaning fee.

5. River Bend Ranch

A barn venue about two miles outside Durango in the Animas Valley, with a private lake, a stocked fishing pond, pedal boats and a three-bedroom cabin that sleeps eight. Its strength is choice of ceremony site: the Lakeside Deck between the barn and lake facing Missionary Ridge, the Lakeside Bank beside the outdoor reception area, Big Willow on the fishing pond, Cabin Willow for a horse-drawn carriage arrival, and the Dock, the sunset photo spot. Tours daily by appointment; pricing is in its brochure.

Telluride, Ouray and Ridgway

6. Schmid Family Ranch

A working ranch on Wilson Mesa outside Telluride, established in 1882 and protected by a conservation easement, with an aspen grove ceremony site, a ridge-line site and a fire pit. Three-day rental from $7,500, including two cabins. For Telluride, that is a remarkable number.

7. Telluride Ski Resort

Mountain venues reached by the free gondola, which runs until midnight in summer. The options, by height:

  • Alpino Vino, 11,966 feet, winter only, for 24, reached by snowcat-drawn coach
  • Palmyra Lookout, 11,200 feet, mid-June to September, a stone-aisle ceremony site for 150 at the top of a chairlift
  • Allred's, 10,551 feet, for 130 seated or 150 without a dance floor
  • San Sophia Overlook, 10,540 feet, ceremonies for 250
  • Gorrono Ranch, 10,100 feet, with two historic cabins and decks, for 200
  • Tomboy Tavern and the Crystal Room at the Peaks Resort, 9,500 feet, for welcome parties and receptions up to 200

Most run June to October and December to March. Pricing through the resort's weddings team.

8. Top of the Pines

A nonprofit outdoor site at the foot of the Sneffels Range near Ridgway, and an International Dark Sky Park, so an evening reception here comes with the Milky Way. Two packages, May 15 to October 15:

  • Full wedding, $3,050 plus a $500 deposit: the meadow, the heated pavilion with flush toilets and a prep kitchen, and exclusive use of the tent campground for three days and two nights
  • Weekday single day, $1,050 plus $250, 8am to 6pm, for 50 or fewer

You need $1 million in liability insurance and a licensed caterer. It is a shared public facility, so hikers and bikers may pass by.

9. Beaumont Hotel & Spa

A restored 1886 hotel in the center of Ouray, with two main wedding spaces:

  • Garden Courtyard, with a raised stage for live music: 132 seated (100 outside, 32 inside) or 200 for cocktails
  • Grand Ballroom, upstairs, with 21-foot ceilings, hand-painted plaster and gothic stained glass: 130 seated or 150 standing

The three-story atrium and the lounge, with its view of Cascade Falls, take rehearsal dinners. Menus are custom, and you can buy out the hotel. Check its policy on children: it is listed as adults-only. Pricing on request.

10. Red Mountain Alpine Lodge

A solar-powered timber-frame lodge at the top of Red Mountain Pass on Highway 550, sleeping 18, with meadow ceremonies for up to 50 in summer and fall. The whole lodge rents from $3,999 a night in summer and fall, about $222 a person, with dinner, breakfast and an apres snack included. It has its own tavern license, so you cannot bring alcohol, and quiet hours start at 10pm. As remote and high as a wedding venue gets in Colorado; in winter the pass can close for avalanche control.

Pagosa Springs

11. Elkwood Manor

A boutique bed and breakfast with a dedicated wedding venue, sold as two nights of exclusive use for up to 70 guests, with lodging for 16. Packages include the officiant, catering, waitstaff, bartenders and coordination through breakfast the next morning:

  • Elopements from $2,500, with lodging, dinner, cake and photography
  • Weddings from $7,300 for 15 guests without alcohol, $7,900 with beer and wine, and up to $22,300 for 70 with a seated dinner and cocktails

Cake, photography, flowers and music are on you, and taxes are added.

12. Sombrilla Springs

A restored 1932 dairy barn on a working ranch in the Upper Blanco Basin, with seven glamping tents in an aspen grove sleeping 34, and a balcony over the valley. Wedding rental $9,500 to $15,000, mid-May to late October. There is no liquor license, so you can supply your own alcohol, served by a licensed bartender and never sold.

Others worth a look

Eureka Lodge is a historic miners' hotel eight miles north of Silverton on the Alpine Loop, for up to 35 overnight. How to shop Southwest Colorado venues

Compare weekends to weekends. LePlatt's Pond at $12,500 for three days and two nights is not more expensive than a $6,000 single day once you add a rehearsal venue and two nights of lodging. Price the whole weekend at each place.

Price the guests' travel. Small regional airports and the six-hour drive from Denver shape your guest list. Venues with on-site lodging, like Blue Lake Ranch, The Black Diamond Lodge and Sombrilla Springs, take the hardest logistics off your guests.

Check the season dates. Top of the Pines runs May 15 to October 15, and Sombrilla Springs mid-May to late October. High passes like Red Mountain can see snow in September and June. Ask for the exact window.

Plan around altitude. The Benchmark is at 9,000 feet and The Black Diamond Lodge at 8,900. Silverton and Red Mountain Pass are higher still. Guests from sea level should arrive a day early if they can, and drink more water than they think they need. Our venue tour questions cover the general version.

Our venue checklist covers the rest, and what a wedding venue costs explains how venue pricing is structured.
