St. Augustine

1. Lightner Museum

The former Hotel Alcazar, opened in 1888, whose casino once held what was called the world's largest indoor swimming pool; the main ballroom now sits in the old pool, for 40 to 225:

• Custom package: venue rental and essentials, any day of the week
• All-inclusive intimate package, up to 100: catering, open bar, coordination, cake, DJ and rentals

Prices are in its pricing guide, and Fridays and Sundays cost less than Saturdays. Courtyard ceremonies go through a separate company.

2. The Treasury on the Plaza

A former bank on Cathedral Place with a 1927 inlaid marble aisle and a vault bar, for 40 to 175:

• Saturday: $16,000
• Friday: $12,000; Sunday: $11,000
• Monday to Thursday: $8,000
• Ceremony: $2,500 more

An event manager, Chiavari chairs, lighting effects, a monogram projection and sound are included. Caterer and coordinator come from its key vendor list.

3. River House Events

A waterfront venue on Marine Street downtown on the Matanzas River and the Intracoastal Waterway, with views of the St. Augustine Lighthouse, three spaces indoors and out and room for up to 220.

It has run since 2010 and hosts about 78 events a year. Packages and pricing are on its site. For a waterfront wedding in the historic city, it holds the most guests here.

Jacksonville

4. Old St. Andrew's Event Venue

An 1887 Gothic Revival church on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard, once central to the city's Episcopal community and on the National Register, for 150 at a ceremony or 100 at a seated reception:

• Ceremony and reception with a room flip, nine hours: $4,662
• Outdoor ceremony and indoor reception: $4,093
• Reception only: $3,656; ceremony only: $2,150

Seventy-five mahogany chairs, tables and in-house bartenders are included; a $400 cleaning fee and tax apply. Weekdays are discounted.

5. Bowing Oaks

A five-acre estate with century-old oaks on Alphons Street in south Jacksonville, with a climate-controlled 3,200-square-foot ballroom for 200, an open-air chapel and wraparound porches:

• Ceremony and reception: $11,000 Saturday, $10,000 Friday or Sunday, $9,000 weekdays
• Reception only: $10,250 / $9,250 / $8,250

Off-season rates apply in January, February and July to September. Chiavari chairs, setup, two dressing lounges and a catering kitchen are included.

6. Rainbow Wedding Chapel

A downtown chapel on West Forsyth Street that marries everyone, for up to 60:

• Weekday: $100 for the couple to $400 for 41 to 60 guests
• Saturday: $150 to $500

Every package includes a minister or notary, filing the license and digital photos. Walk-ins are welcome on weekdays. For a quick legal wedding, it is the lowest published price on this list.

Clay County

7. Clay Theatre

An Art Deco theatre on Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs, south of Jacksonville, with a courtyard, a balcony suite and a marquee:

• Oscars, up to 150: $13,000 weekends, $12,000 weekdays
• Golden Globes, up to 150: $11,000 / $10,000
• Sundance, up to 100: $7,000, weekdays or dates within nine months

Chiavari chairs, uplighting, a custom marquee message, dressing rooms and coordination are included. Caterers come from its approved list.

Others worth a look

All 4 One Farms is a farm of more than 100 acres with an open-air barn and a pool. In Green Cove Springs, Tucker's Farmhouse, The Manor at 12 Oaks and Chapel Oaks host barn and estate weddings. Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club is on the Intracoastal, and Atlantic Beach Farmhouse is near the beach.

Two things to check before you book in Northeast Florida

St. Augustine books far ahead, and parking is tight. Ask any downtown venue where your guests park and whether a shuttle is needed.
