12 Best Wedding Venues in Oxford and North Mississippi (2026 Guide)

North Mississippi is the most expensive wedding market in the state, and it is expensive for two unrelated reasons pulling in the same direction.

At one end is Oxford, a town of about 25,000 with an SEC university, a national literary reputation, and a small, beautiful Square that alumni families come back to. Demand there is steady and not especially price-sensitive, and the supply is limited by the size of the town.

At the other end, 70 miles northwest, is DeSoto County, where Southaven, Hernando, Olive Branch, and Nesbit function as suburbs of Memphis. Venues there compete in the Memphis market and price to it, not to Mississippi.

Between them they produce a median published venue package of $3,975, the highest of any Mississippi metro. But the two halves feel completely different, and knowing which one you are shopping changes everything.

Statewide, published Mississippi wedding venue packages have a median starting price of $3,400, with half the market between $2,500 and $4,244. Oxford and North Mississippi run a median of $3,975 (n=10), with quartiles at $3,050 and $4,469, and a top published package of $13,000.

Note that the 25th percentile here, $3,050, sits above the statewide median's neighbourhood. This is not a market with a cheap tail. Even the bottom quartile costs what the middle costs elsewhere in Mississippi.

Oxford

1. The Jefferson Oxford

The largest venue in Oxford and the one that publishes the most, with indoor and outdoor ceremony options, a spacious reception hall, an on-site guest house, and a stated capacity range of 25 to 1,725.

• Wedding rental $3,000 to $9,500 depending on day of week and rooms needed
• Outdoor ceremony fee $750 unless the entire venue is rented
• Bar priced by consumption with no beverage minimum

That last term is genuinely unusual and genuinely valuable. Most venues at this level impose a bar minimum, which means you pay for alcohol your guests do not drink. No minimum means you pay for what is poured. On a wedding with a lot of non-drinkers, that can be worth thousands.

2. The Oliver Hotel of Oxford

A luxury boutique hotel on the Square with ballroom, rooftop, restaurant, and speakeasy spaces, capacity 16 to 100, plus rooms and dining on site.

On the Square is the point. Oxford's Square is the reason people want to marry here, and being able to walk from the ceremony to the reception to your room without a shuttle solves the town's hardest logistical problem on a football-season weekend.

3. The Lyric Oxford

A restored historic theatre downtown hosting receptions and post-wedding parties in a live-music setting. Pricing on request. The right room for a music-led reception and an excellent after-party venue even if the wedding is elsewhere.

4. The Ravine

An Oxford property with lodging, a pool, and a full bar, hosting rehearsal dinners, bridesmaids luncheons, and wedding weekends for up to about 40. Pricing on request.

Not a main-reception venue, but in a town where lodging is the binding constraint, a property that houses the wedding party and hosts the rehearsal dinner is worth knowing about.

DeSoto County and the Memphis suburbs

This is where the published pricing lives, and where the best value in North Mississippi is.

5. Bonne Terre

A 23-acre venue in Nesbit with a white antique chapel, reception hall, bridal suite, groom's room, and on-property lodging for up to 41 guests, about 30 minutes from Memphis. Venue access runs 10am to midnight. Full rate card:

• Non-peak: weekday $4,500, Friday or Sunday $6,500, Saturday $8,500
• Peak: weekday $5,000, Friday or Sunday $7,000, Saturday $9,000
• $500 refundable security deposit, 50% at signing, balance 30 days out
• In-house catering $1,500 minimum
• Bar: $300 cash bar, $300 plus limit for a dollar-limit bar, or $18 per person unlimited open bar

The bar pricing is the standout. An unlimited open bar at $18 a head is among the cheapest published in the South, and it is the sort of number that is normally impossible to get before you are deep in a sales conversation.

Fourteen hours of venue access plus lodging for 41 is also an unusually complete product.

6. The Fountain South

A full-service venue in Olive Branch with two indoor halls and outdoor ceremony sites, capacity 20 to 300, with the most tiered pricing in the region:

• DIY packages from $4,375
• Full-service with catering and design $7,150 to $9,650+
• Platinum up to $12,950+
• Venue rental only: $1,700 to $3,500 for the main hall depending on day and time

That venue-only tier at $1,700 is the cheapest published entry point in North Mississippi, and the ladder above it lets you buy exactly as much service as you want. If you are comparing DIY against all-inclusive, this is the venue that shows you both prices.

7. Mallard's Croft the Vineyard

A vineyard and estate venue in Byhalia with two distinct indoor and outdoor spaces and on-site lodging for multi-day celebrations, capacity to 200.

The Vineyard Barn: Monday to Thursday $4,150, Friday and Sunday $5,400, Saturday $5,800.

A vineyard setting with lodging at $5,800 on a Saturday is competitive against anything in the region, and the weekday rate is $1,650 lower.

8. Southern Elegance Venue

A 10,000 square foot Southaven venue with ballrooms, an outdoor terrace, and a large gazebo, offering weddings, receptions, elopements, and full-service catering. Weddings typically range $6,000 to $13,000.

That is the top of the published North Mississippi market, and it is a full-service number rather than a room rental.

9. Cedar Hill Farm

A 120-acre working farm in Hernando hosting weddings in barn, pavilion, and open-ground spaces, with on-site Southern catering and farm activities for guests, capacity 40 to 2,000. Pricing by inquiry.

The 2,000 capacity makes it the largest venue in North Mississippi, and the working-farm activities are a genuinely good answer to the problem of entertaining guests across a wedding weekend.

10. 1 Memphis Street

A restored 1930s cottonseed warehouse on Hernando's historic Square, indoor and outdoor, holding around 200. The most characterful small-town room in the region, and Hernando's Square is a real one.

11. Historic Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center

A hotel and conference centre in Olive Branch with banquet halls, on-site dining and catering, and lodging for guests. The practical option: rooms, food, and space in one building.

How to shop North Mississippi

Decide which market you are in before you tour anything. Oxford and DeSoto County are 70 miles and a completely different wedding apart. Oxford is the Square, the university, and the walkable weekend. DeSoto is space, published pricing, and Memphis airport 30 minutes away. Both are "North Mississippi" and they have almost nothing in common.

If you want Oxford, the football schedule is the whole planning problem. Vaught-Hemingway seats more than 60,000 in a town of 25,000. On a home Saturday, lodging sells out a year ahead at multiples of normal rate with two-night minimums. Check the schedule before the venue deposit, not after. This is the single most common planning mistake in Mississippi weddings.

Ask about the bar structure everywhere. Bonne Terre publishes $18 per person unlimited. The Jefferson publishes consumption-based with no minimum. Those are two of the most favourable bar terms in the state, and they are the exception. Elsewhere, a bar minimum can quietly add several thousand dollars to a competitive-looking venue fee.

Look at DeSoto County for value even if you love Oxford. The Fountain South's $1,700 venue-only rate and Mallard's Croft's $4,150 weekday are less than half what an equivalent Oxford Saturday costs, and Memphis International is a much easier airport for out-of-state guests than driving down from it to Oxford.
