It is a Blue Wave certified beach with four rentable beachfront pavilions if you want more than a ceremony. As a wedding budget, it is unbeatable.

More broadly, Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend publish a median starting venue package of $2,650 (n=12), second only to San Antonio among Texas metros with a usable sample. This is a genuinely affordable coast, which is unusual: in most states the beach carries a premium.

The beach

1. Rockport Beach

A public Gulf Coast beach offering beachside ceremonies and four rentable beachfront pavilions, two with indoor space.

No charge for a beach ceremony for parties under 10, beyond the beach parking fee of $10 daily or $50 for an annual non-resident pass. Pavilion rental pricing comes from the city.

If you want to be married on the Gulf with your immediate family and then take everyone to dinner, this is the answer, and it costs less than a marriage licence.

2. Port Royal Ocean Resort

A beachfront condo resort and conference center in Port Aransas with wedding and group event planning, on-site dining, pools and direct beach access. Pricing on request.

3. Sandcastle Condominiums & Event Center

A beachfront Port Aransas resort with an on-site event center for beach and indoor weddings. Capacity 10 to 300, with flexible event space, a commercial kitchen for caterers, and nearby vacation rentals for guests.

That commercial kitchen matters. It means you can bring your own caterer rather than buying the resort's package, which in a beach market is usually where the savings are.

4. Seashell Village Resort

A coastal Port Aransas resort with an outdoor courtyard, a party pavilion and an indoor theater. Rooms start at $82.50 per night including tax, which is a useful anchor for what your guests will pay on the island.

10. Art Center of Corpus Christi

A downtown waterfront art gallery and community event space with a Mediterranean-style courtyard, gallery rooms and a bay-view room. Capacity 5 to 300.

The most distinctive interior in Corpus Christi, and the capacity range means it works for a ceremony of five or a reception of 300.

11. South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center

A 182-acre botanical garden and nature center with scenic indoor and outdoor spaces. The largest garden venue on the Texas coast.

Smaller towns

12. Rialto Events Venue

A historic downtown theater in Aransas Pass now hosting weddings, bridal showers and receptions in an intimate space, alongside live music and comedy. 4.8 stars.

A restored theater is a genuinely distinctive ceremony space, and there are very few in South Texas.

What to ask on a Coastal Bend tour

Ask about the storm clause. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and this coast has taken direct hits, Harvey among them at Rockport. Get the evacuation terms in writing before the deposit and buy event insurance with a named-storm provision.

Ask whether you can bring your own caterer. Sandcastle has a commercial kitchen for outside caterers. Resort venues that require in-house catering price very differently.

Ask about the ferry and the causeway. Port Aransas is reached by ferry from Aransas Pass or by the causeway from Corpus Christi. On a summer weekend the ferry queue is long. Build it into the timeline and tell your guests.

Look at the smaller rooms first. Mansion Royal's Queen Banquet Ballroom is a fifth the price of its Mansion Ballroom. In a market this affordable, the difference between rooms at the same venue is often larger than the difference between venues.
