The Best Months to Get Married in Ohio (2026 Seasonal Guide)

·3 min read

Ohio has four full seasons, and the wedding calendar follows them closely. Winters are cold, with lake-effect snow east of Cleveland; spring is wet and stormy; summer is warm and humid; and fall is the best of the year, with color in the hills from Hocking to the Cuyahoga Valley.

Ohio venues price that calendar in the open. Most that publish seasonal rates call May through October peak and November through April off-peak, and a few go further, with a cheaper January or a summer discount.

The quick answer

September and October are the best months to get married in Ohio. Mild days, cool nights, the least humid weather of the warm season and fall color. They are also peak season, so book a year or more ahead.

June is the other classic month, warm and long-lit, with the chance of a thunderstorm.

For value, book winter. The Steam Plant in Dayton charges $4,500 for a January Saturday instead of $9,500, Haymaker's Mill in North Canton $5,500 from November to April instead of $7,500, and Cliffside Acres in Springfield $7,750 instead of $9,250.

Season by season

Spring (March to May)

Cool and wet in March and April, warming in May, with thunderstorms becoming common. Most venues stay off-peak through April: High Line Car House in Columbus prices January to March lower, and Holland Gardens near Toledo lowers its guest minimum from December to March. May is peak almost everywhere.

Summer (June to August)

Warm and humid, with afternoon storms. June is peak. July and August are a quiet discount at some venues: Alum Creek Farm in Delaware takes $2,000 off a Saturday, and Canopy Creek Farm in Miamisburg prices July at its winter rate. Lake Erie venues are at their best, with breezes off the water.

Fall (September to November)

The peak. September is warm and settled, October is crisp and colorful, and November turns cold and falls in price at many venues. Check football weekends: Ohio State home games fill Columbus hotels. In Hocking Hills, fall color weekends fill the cabins.

Winter (December to February)

Cold, with snow, and heavy lake-effect snow in the northeast snowbelt. This is the cheapest season, and the Steam Plant's January rate is less than half its peak. December holidays carry their own pricing at some venues.

Picking your date

  1. Decide whether the weather or the budget matters more. September and October have the best weather; January to March is the cheapest.
  2. For spring, book an indoor or covered fallback. Storms are common in May and June.
  3. Check Ohio State's schedule near Columbus, and book Hocking Hills cabins early for fall.
  4. For winter in the northeast, plan for snow. Lake-effect bands can close roads east of Cleveland.
